The Indian Postal Department has announced recruitment for more than 28000 posts under Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS). According to the official notification issued by India Post, this recruitment process is going to start from January 2026. The biggest feature of this recruitment is that the candidates will be selected without any written examination, only on the basis of merit of standard-10.

A total of 28,740 vacancies will be filled by the Postal Department in 23 circles across the country. Out of which the maximum 3,553 posts are in Maharashtra, while there are 3,169 in Uttar Pradesh and 2,982 posts in West Bengal. Talking about Gujarat Circle, there are 1,830 vacancies to be filled. Under this recruitment, appointments will be made to the posts of Assistant Branch Post Master (ABPM), Branch Post Master (BPM).

Eligibility and Age Limit: To join the recruitment, the candidate must have passed standard-10 with Mathematics and English subjects from any recognized board. The candidate must have knowledge of the local language, computer knowledge and be able to ride a bicycle.
Age limit: The minimum age of the candidate has been fixed at 18 years and maximum age is 40 years. However, the candidates belonging to the reserved category will be given relaxation in the upper age limit as per the government rules.
